CRIMINAL CASE

I started at Pretty Simple as a 2D artist, and I was fortunate enough to work on the game Criminal Case, creating maps, painting game scenes and it’s numerous props, crafting various loading screens and animations.

With my background in economic design, I quickly moved to the user acquisition team, where I participated in promoting the game across all social platforms and devices.

During my time there, Pretty Simple evolved from a small independent team into one of France's most thriving game studios and I'm glad to have contributed to its growth.

As of mid-2013, Criminal Case attracted more than ten million monthly average users and became highly competitive with Candy Crush Saga, the most popular game on Facebook with over 46 million average monthly users at that time.
On December 4, 2013, the game achieved over 100 million users and was awarded Facebook Game of the Year.

One of the first tasks I was assigned was to assist in designing the world map of the game.
The objective was to create a board game-like appearance, with landmarks depicted as pawns positioned on a model of a city.

Due to my interest in economic design at the time, I was invited to join the talented marketing team, where I thoroughly enjoyed designing thousands of ad campaigns aimed at boosting player acquisition for Criminal Case.

Here are a few examples of ads and promotional material I worked on.

On several occasions, I was entrusted with crafting props for multiple scenes and even building entire scenes from scratch (example down below), thereby relieving the artistic team during production.

I had the chance to design a new feature:
The in-game Card Collection.

Here, players could unpack collectible cards, which they could subsequently trade with other players or add to their album.

The Criminal Case team did an excellent job in designing a good product and effectively promoting it, resulting in us reaching the top 3 in the download chart on the App Store and claiming the top spot on the Android Play Store as well as being prominently featured on the front page multiple times.

I am grateful and proud to have been part of this remarkable adventure.
